An invasive species is a non-native plant to an ecosystem that is likely to cause economic or environmental harm, or harm to human health.
The FOCSP Invasive Plant Removal Team has been working throughout the park since 2017, primarily removing Autumn Olive, Shrub Honeysuckle, Multiflora Rose, and Bradford Pear.

What We Do...
The team starts field work in autumn and continues working into the winter. Team members are alerted to work days, times, and locations via e-mail. Field work typically takes place in the afternoon.
Team members meet at the designated work site or a nearby parking lot.
The workinvolves cutting small trees and shrubs with a chain saw, hand saw, or loppers and then applying an herbicide to the cut.
The Friends group has all the equipment needed to support up to six volunteerscutting the invasive plants.
If you are interested in working outdoors, please consider joining our team. We provide the training, tools, and equipment. (Note this large pile of invasive plants that were removed from the Black Rock Lodge location.)
